1. APC‘ll reconcile Tinubu, Oshiomhole, other aspirants after primaries – Adamu
The National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress on Saturday said there are plans to reconcile aggrieved aspirants after the tickets of the presidential, governorship, senatorial and House of Representatives are secured at the May 26 to 30 primaries.
This is even as the APC remained upbeat that the respective camp of the party’s aspirants remains calm ahead of the shadow poll.
The list of the aspirants who have so far submitted their nomination forms are the National Leader of the party, Senator Bola Tinubu; Vice President Yemi Osibanjo; former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former Minister of Niger Delta Development, Sen. Godswill Akpabio; former Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu; former Imo State governor, Sen. Rochas Okorocha and former Ogun state governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosu.
2. Gunmen behead Soludo’s lawmaker days after kidnap
A member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Dr Okechukwu Okoye, who was earlier kidnapped, has been beheaded.
The lawmaker, popularly known as “Okey Di Okay” was kidnapped late on Sunday.
Until his unfortunate kidnap and death, Okoye was representing the Aguata North constituency, the same community as the governor of the state, Prof. Chukwuma Chukwuma Soludo.
Soludo, who confirmed his kidnap on Thursday, during the presentation of the 2022 revised budget to the state House of Assembly, regretted his abduction and assured that the lawmaker would be rescued soon as security agencies were working round the clock to ensure his release.
3. JUST IN: Kumuyi cancels Aba crusade after IPOB’s warning
The General Superintendent of the Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, has cancelled his planned crusade in Aba, Abia State, The PUNCH has learnt.
It was gathered that Kumuyi cancelled the crusade due to security concerns in the South-East geopolitical zone.
The crusade was scheduled to hold in Aba from May 24 to May 29, 2022 but the Indigenous People of Biafra told the 80-year-old cleric not to go ahead with the crusade.
An official of the Global Crusade with Kumuyi confirmed the cancellation of the Aba crusade in a telephone chat with The PUNCH on Saturday.

4. NEMA receives 129 Nigerians stranded in Niger Republic
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) received 129 Nigerians stranded at Agadez, Niger Republic on Saturday in Kano
NEMA Coordinator, Kano Territorial Office, Dr Nuradeen Abdullahi, gave the figure when he received the returnees
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the returnees arrived in Kano in three luxury buses organised by the International Organisation on Migration.
“The returnees were brought back through a voluntary repatriation programme for those who left Nigeria to seek greener pastures in various European countries but could not get to their destinations and became frustrated,’’ Abdullahi said.
5. APC presidential ticket: Pick no one but Amaechi, diaspora group urges delegates
UNITED States and Canadian citizens of Nigerian descent have urged All Progressives Congress (APC) delegates to decide the presidential ticket of the party for the 2023 elections to bet on former Rivers state governor, Rotimi Amaechi, to lead the party to victory as a step towards a better Nigeria.
The diaspora stakeholders, coalesced as as the Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi-Move Up (CRA-Move Up) Campaign, Canada/USA, made the appeal in a statement availed Vanguard in Port Harcourt, Rivers state, by its Director General, Joe Korka-Waadah, ahead of the party’s primaries that will climax with the convention to decide the party’s presidential ticket.
Korka-Waadah, a Canadian of Ogoni, descent, stated, “We in diaspora may not have voting rights. We are not delegates, but have a duty to appeal to the conscience of those to vote because we are as much concerned about the state and future of Nigeria. The whole world is, because if Nigeria crumbles, it will quake not only Africa but the entire globe.
6. 2023: Tinubu promises transformational leadership, pledges replication of Lagos experience
National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and leading presidential aspirant, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on Saturday promised a transformational leadership and promised to replicate the developmental strategies he initiated in Lagos in Nigeria if he is nominated as the candidate of the party and goes ahead to win the primary election
Tinubu stated this at the palace of the Oba of Benin when he paid him a courtesy visit while in the state to meet with the delegates of the APC ahead of the party’s presidential primary election.
He said Lagos State was in bad shape when he became governor of the state in 1999 but that today, it is a mega city.
Tinubu said: “Your Royal Majesty, I am here this evening to seek your endorsement; I am here this evening to seek for your prayers and blessings because I know what your endorsement means, I know what your prayers means. Your Royal Majesty, I want to be president of this country and I am not joking.

7. Buhari returns from Abu Dhabi visit
President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday evening returned to Abuja after a two-day visit to the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abu Dhabi.
The President, who departed around 1:30pm on Thursday, landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja by 4pm with members of his entourage.
While in Abu Dhabi, Buhari met the new President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to whom he conveyed his and Nigeria’s condolences on the passing of the former President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness, Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
8. Troops dislodge IPOB/ESN training camp, neutralise two wanted gunmen
Nigerian Army troops of 34 Brigade, in conjunction with operatives of the Department of State Service (DSS) have dislodged gunmen from their training camp at Okporo in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo.
Army spokesperson, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement on Saturday, said the training camp belong to the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Nwachukwu said the troops neutralised two notorious members of the group, who have been on the wanted list of security agencies during the gun battle at the camp on Friday.

9. Gov Ortom charges PDP electoral panels to be firm, fair, transparent
Governor Samuel Ortom has charged members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, electoral panels for the House of Assembly and House of Representatives primaries to be firm, but ensure that the process is free, fair and transparent.
The Governor gave the charge while addressing members of the panels, made up of principally government appointees at the PDP state secretariat in Makurdi on Saturday.
The primary elections for the State Assembly and House of Representatives are scheduled to hold on Sunday, 22nd May 2022 across the state.
10. Bandits release abducted Kano University lecturer
The Associate Professor with the Kano University of Science and Technology (KUST), Wudil, Huzaifa Karfi, who was held back by bandits after he delivered ransom for the release of a district head in Kano community, has been set free by his abductors.
Gunmen had on May 26, 2022, stormed Karfi village, Takai Local Council of Kano State and abducted the village head, Yahaya Ilu.
After much negotiations with the bandits, Professor Karfi took the ransom to the bandits who released the village head and held him back.
However, a family source told DAILY POST that Dr. Karfi was released on Saturday afternoon.
