1. NDLEA didn’t request sniffer dogs – Spokesman
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has denied requesting to buy sniffer dogs in its 2023 budget proposal.
The Chairman of the Agency, Buba Marwa, had while appearing before the House of Representatives Committee on Narcotics to defend the agency’s budget was quoted to have said NDLEA needed more sniffer dogs to tackle drug trafficking and the cartels responsible.
Marwa was said to have said a sniffer dog costs as much as $20,000.
This was, however, condemned by Nigerians who believed such amount was outrageous.
2. Obaseki offers employment to 15 first class graduates
The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has announced automatic employment for 15 first-class graduating students of the Edo State University, Uzairue.
Obaseki, who made the announcement at the fourth convocation ceremony of the institution in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state, commended the school for the gains made in learning and research.
He said, “As usual, all those 15 students that made the first class in this set have automatic employment into Edo State Civil service; your job is waiting for you.
“We have made it a standard that any graduate from any of our universities in Edo State that made a first class should be given automatic employment in our public and civil service. We want to build quality manpower.
3. Zamfara: Over 1,000 PDP members defect to APC
The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has received over 1,000 defectors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
The party announced the defection in a statement signed by the state party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, it partly read, “the defection of the state PDP women leader, Hajiya Madina Shehu, and over 1,000 women, including the PDP campaign coordinators is a welcoming development to our party towards the forthcoming election.
“The mass defection has reduced PDP to a party of no structure and increased the ever-glaring chances of the APC at all levels in the state.
The party noted that the development confirmed the assertion by Governor Matawalle when he received the defectors.

4. 2023: Ibadan Mogajis, Baales, others endorse Tinubu for President
As gale of endorsements for candidates of political parties continues ahead of 2023 elections, family heads (Mogajis); Baales and other notable groups, including Agbekoya in Ibadan, have endorsed Bola Tinubu, as their preferred Presidential candidate.
They declared their supports for Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday at a well attended event held at Ilaji Hotels and Sports Resort in Ibadan.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event, organised under the auspices of Rontex for BAT Political Signature, was convened by Dr Ronke Carew and hosted by Chief Dotun Sanusi.
5. Half salary: We cannot pay for work not done, FG tells ASUU
The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has refuted media reports, alleging bias in the payment of salaries of members of the Academic Staff Union of Nigeria (ASUU).
The ministry further dismissed ASUU claims that their members were paid half their salary for the month of October.
In a press statement issued by Olajide Oshundun, Head of Press and Public Relations, the Labour Ministry on Saturday, said that both reports as grossly inaccurate, misleading and barefaced distortions of facts.
The statement explained that members of ASUU were paid their October salary pro-rata, and not half salary as the media widely reported.
6. INSECURITY: Obaseki, Daura, others urge women to be involved in political governance
In the face of worsening insecurity in Nigeria, women have been urged to be resilient and actively participate in the political governance and leadership of the country.
The Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki; former Director General of the Department of State Security, DSS, Lawan Daura, and the Chief Executive Officer, CEO, of Ecobank Plc, Mrs Bola Adesola, who were among the speakers at the 2022 Women In Security, WIS, Conference in Lagos, said women suffer most when the security system of a country failed.
The conference themed: “Developing Resilient Leaders for the African Security Industry”, was designed to tackle unique security challenges facing the country as well as to equip attendees to gain the confidence and charisma required to adequately steer organizations through the volatility that seems to be all around them.

7. Ayu, Tambuwal, Lamido meet over PDP crisis
As part of efforts to resolve the internal crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the National Chairman Senator Iyorchia Ayu, Director General of the Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign council, Governor Aminu Tambuwal and former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido have met in Bauchi for consultations.
The delegation arrived on Saturday evening and met with Governor Bala Mohammed.
Ayu described Mohammed as one of the major national stakeholders, who have contributed immensely to the development of the party.
He said the meeting was also to rally support for its presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.
8. Bayelsa flood a major crisis, says UN
The United Nations has described the flood in Bayelsa State as a crisis of major proportion that deserves attention.
The UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria and Representative of the Secretary General, Mr. Matthias Schmale, stated this on Saturday when he led a delegation comprising officials of the global body, the World Health Organisation and the Federal Ministry of Water Resources on a courtesy visit to Governor Douye Diri in Yenagoa.
A statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, quoted Schmale as likening the Bayelsa situation to the Pakistani floods that attracted global attention.
The UN Coordinator, who had on Friday accompanied Governor Diri on his tour to some flood-impacted communities in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area, said his visit was a response to the letter from the governor and called for attention to address the devastating effect of the flooding.

9. Calm in Ilorin communities after kidnappers, cultists rampage
Normalcy has been restored in Gaa-Osibi and Alagbado communities of the Okelele area in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara State following the invasion of the areas by suspected kidnappers and cultists.
Nonetheless, there is still tension in the neighbourhood according to the community leader of the area, Alangua Ibagun, Sakariyau Abdulmaliki Iyanda.
In a chat with DAILY POST at his residence in Okelele, the Alangua Ibagun lamented that despite the quick response by the concerned authorities including the police on the security challenges in the areas, the people still live in fear.
“We live in fear because we don’t know when reprisal attacks could happen again following the brutal killings of last week. At the community level, I have summoned elders, parents and Magajis of family compounds in a bid to find lasting solutions to the unnecessary brutal killings and crimes in the areas,” he stated.
10. Serie A: Osimhen scores, assists in Napoli’s 2-1 win against Atalanta
Victor Osimhen continued his impressive scoring run as Napoli defeated Atalanta 2-1 away in their Serie A clash at the Gewiss Stadium on Saturday night.
