The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has denied requesting to buy sniffer dogs in its 2023 budget proposal.
The Chairman of the Agency, Buba Marwa, had while appearing before the House of Representatives Committee on Narcotics to defend the agency’s budget was quoted to have said NDLEA needed more sniffer dogs to tackle drug trafficking and the cartels responsible.
Marwa was said to have said a sniffer dog costs as much as $20,000.
This was, however, condemned by Nigerians who believed such amount was outrageous.
The Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has announced automatic employment for 15 first-class graduating students of the Edo State University, Uzairue.
Obaseki, who made the announcement at the fourth convocation ceremony of the institution in Etsako West Local Government Area of the state, commended the school for the gains made in learning and research.
He said, “As usual, all those 15 students that made the first class in this set have automatic employment into Edo State Civil service; your job is waiting for you.
“We have made it a standard that any graduate from any of our universities in Edo State that made a first class should be given automatic employment in our public and civil service. We want to build quality manpower.
The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress has received over 1,000 defectors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.
The party announced the defection in a statement signed by the state party’s Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris Gusau, it partly read, “the defection of the state PDP women leader, Hajiya Madina Shehu, and over 1,000 women, including the PDP campaign coordinators is a welcoming development to our party towards the forthcoming election.
“The mass defection has reduced PDP to a party of no structure and increased the ever-glaring chances of the APC at all levels in the state.
The party noted that the development confirmed the assertion by Governor Matawalle when he received the defectors.

The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment has refuted media reports, alleging bias in the payment of salaries of members of the Academic Staff Union of Nigeria (ASUU).
The ministry further dismissed ASUU claims that their members were paid half their salary for the month of October.
In a press statement issued by Olajide Oshundun, Head of Press and Public Relations, the Labour Ministry on Saturday, said that both reports as grossly inaccurate, misleading and barefaced distortions of facts.
The statement explained that members of ASUU were paid their October salary pro-rata, and not half salary as the media widely reported.
