1. Insecurity under control, says Buhari
The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has dispelled insinuations that insecurity was on the rise in the country.
According to him, the narratives by some western countries on the security situation in the country are false.
The president spoke at the opening ceremony of a 3-day strategic communication conference for State Commandant and Public Relations Officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps on Wednesday in Abuja.
Represented by his spokesman, Femi Adeshina, Buhari stated the insecurity witnessed in many parts of the country was under control.
2. Primary: Amaechi, Osinbajo can express disappointment, says APC
The National Publicity of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Felix Morka, on Wednesday, disclosed that disgruntled aspirants from losing at the presidential primary have a right to air their grievances.
This is even as he reassured that the leadership of the APC is working hard to reunite all aggrieved members and chieftains of the party ahead of the 2023 elections.
Tinubu had polled 1,271 votes at the last primary to clinch the sole presidential ticket at stake.
He defeated former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo and 11 other aspirants at the end of the Special National Convention of the party in Abuja.
3. CAN declares Nov 4 National Day of Prayer
The Christian Association of Nigeria has declared Friday, November 4, 2022, as a national day of prayer for Nigeria to seek for God’s intervention in the affairs of the country.
CAN made this known in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Chairman, National Prayer Day Committee, Archbishop John Daniel, adding that it had become imperative to solicit the help of God concerning the state of the country.
The prayer, as announced by CAN, is for all christians including christian organisations, christian politicians and stakeholders in the country, in order to frustrate all evil plans against the country.
The Archbishop said, “We consider this imperative in view of the fact that our nation is passing through very challenging times at the moment, despite its abundant natural, human, and material resources.

4. Retired Police Inspector abducted in Plateau community
A retired Police Inspector has been kidnapped in the Daika community, Panyam district, Mangu local government area of Plateau State.
The victim was said to have been abducted from his home at Daika at about 11 pm on Tuesday when the armed men stormed his home and this is happening about two weeks after another resident of the area was kidnapped and ransom collected before his release.
The State Police Command could not confirm the incident as calls to the known phone number of the Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo were not picked up nor returned at the time of this report.
However, an anonymous source confirmed the victim’s family member related the incident as the source said, “Retired Inspector Ayuba Mangdihis was kidnapped at his residence at about 11:00 pm on 01/11/2022. He was sleeping when the kidnappers came knocking and requested him to open his door when he realized that they were kidnappers he pleaded with them but they force his door open and left with him after firing some gunshots. They are yet to contact the family for ransom as of 4:00 pm on Tuesday, November 2nd. The family is in shock.
5. Maina is feigning ailments to escape from custody, minister, NCoS tell court
The Minister of Interior, Mr Rauf Aregbesola, and Haliru Nababa, Controller General (C-G), Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS), say Abdulrasheed Maina is feigning ailments to aid his escape from lawful custody.
The minister and the C-G made the allegation in their joint counter affidavit in opposition to Maina’s originating motion filed before Justice Inyang Ekwo of a Federal High Court, Abuja.
In the application marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1719/22, dated and filed Oct. 31, the duo said “it has become glare from intelligence report at their disposal that the applicant (Maina) only feigns the ailments for him to be taken out of the custodial facility to aid his escape from lawful custody.”
6. FEC approves establishment of planetarium, museum to boost tourism
The Federal Executive Council (FEC), on Wednesday approved the establishment of a Planetarium and Museum at the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA).
This is contained in a statement signed by Ms Manji Yarling, Acting Head, Media and Publicity, Infrastructure Concession Regulatory Commission (ICRC) in Abuja on Wednesday.
Yarling said the projects which would adopt and equip, operate and maintain Public Private Partnership Model, followed the regulatory guidance of the ICRC.

7. PDP campaign kicks as Shettima knocks Atiku
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential campaign organisation has knocked the vice presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kashim Shettima over his recent comments on the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Shettima, in an event in Lagos on Tuesday, mocked Atiku over his promise to unify Nigeria if elected, saying that the PDP presidential candidate who has failed to unify his party cannot unify the country.
But in a reaction on Wednesday, the Director of Strategic Communications of the Atiku/Okowa campaign, Chief Dele Momodu, said Shettima was suffering from deliberate amnesia.
Momodu said Shettima was pointing fingers at the speck in another man’s eye while ignoring the log in his own eye.
The PDP campaign spokesman pointed out that the APC is in total disarray with prominent members of the party openly apologising to Nigerians for the unmitigated disaster it has foisted on the country since 2015.
8. Ifeanyi’s Instagram account disabled
The Instagram account of Ifeanyi, the deceased son of Davido has been disabled.
His parents, Davido and Chioma, created the account @davidifeanyiadeleke on his third birthday.
The account had approximately 50,000 followers before it was disabled.
Three-year-old Ifeanyi was reported to have drowned in a swimming pool on October 31.

9. FG’s debt on road, housing projects rises to N956bn – Fashola
The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola, said on Wednesday that the federal government is owing contractors handling road and housing projects across the country outstanding liabilities of a whooping N956billion as at September 2022.
Fashola, who spoke at separate 2023 budget defence sessions with the Senate Committees on Works and Housing, also lamented over drastic budget cuts earmarked for the two sectors in the 2023 fiscal year.
Out of the N956billion outstanding liabilities, the federal government is owing contractors handling the National Housing Scheme N191.75billion while the remaining balance of N765billion is owed contractors handling road projects across the country from the total contract value of N10.4trillion.
Specifically in his submissions before the Senate Committee on Housing , Fashola said the National Housing Project which started in 2016 has been executed in 35 out of 36 states of the federation with 1,250 contractors.
10. Ex-Chelsea star, Victor Moses sympathizes with Davido over death of son, Ifeanyi
Former Chelsea winger, Victor Moses, has commiserated with popular musician, David Adeleke, also known as Davido, over the death of his son, Ifeanyi.
Moses, in a tweet via his Twitter handle on Wednesday, sent his prayers to Davido.
The former Super Eagles star wrote: “My love, strength and prayers go out to @davido.”
