During a committee meeting with community leaders on Thursday, Speaker Mudashiru Obasa represented by Majority Leader Noheem Adams stated that the Assembly, in collaboration with the Lagos State Building Control Agency and the E-GIS Office, had directed each affected community to set up a 10-member committee.
The committees are expected to include women, youths, students and traditional leaders to ensure broad representation and lasting solutions.
The House also adopted the recommendation of the Special Adviser to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on E-GIS, Dr Olajide Babatunde, establishing a 250-metre setback from the Third Mainland Bridge and an additional 250-metre buffer beyond the power line corridor.
The decision effectively prohibits all forms of development within the designated zones.

Adams urged stakeholders to unite and work toward addressing residents’ concerns, warning against actions that could derail the reconciliation process.
He disclosed that the State Executive Council is finalising compensation arrangements for affected residents as dialogue continues.
Reacting after the meeting, Chairman of Yaba Local Council Development Area, Bayo Adefuye, expressed satisfaction with the resolutions reached. He noted that relief materials and palliatives had already been distributed by both the state and local governments.
Adefuye said the Assembly committee’s two-week timeline appears achievable and urged residents to comply with directives, cautioning community leaders against pursuing personal interests that could undermine the resolution process.
