Police in Bauchi State have arrested a 50-year-old man named Nuru Isah for the alleged killing of his 24-year-old second wife, Wasila Abdullahi.
According to a press release by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Ahmed Wakil, the incident occurred on Saturday near Government Girls College in Fadamam Mada Area, Bauchi.

Initial investigations revealed that Isah, a local businessman, and Abdullahi had an argument over the handling of food items and fruits intended for breaking their Ramadan fast.
The situation escalated into a physical altercation, during which Isah allegedly struck his wife with a cane, causing her to collapse and become unconscious in their home.
“The victim was subsequently transported to Abubakar Tafawa Belewa University Teaching Hospital, ATBUTH Bauchi, where medical personnel confirmed her death.”

The police spokesman said the Bauchi State Police Command had initiated a thorough investigation into the incident and has apprehended the suspect and recovered the cane used in the assault as an exhibit.
He added that the remains of the deceased have been deposited in the mortuary pending autopsy.
Wakil quoted the State Commissioner of Police, Auwal Muhammad, as assuring the public of the command’s commitment to ensuring justice in the matter.
The commissioner reminded the “public that domestic violence constitutes a serious offence with potentially devastating repercussions”.
