Report reaching us says that the suspect, Oyeleye, attacked his 65-year-old mother, Esther, on Tuesday over an undisclosed altercation between the duo in Akibo village, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of the state.
Information gathered said the cry emanating from the sixty-five year old woman’s residence in the night forced neighbours out of their houses to discover what was happening.
Oyeleye’s mother, Esther was found lying in a pool of blood, with her left and right hands chopped off and a deep cut on her head as neighbours rushed to save the situation.
To further, confirm the barbaric act of the son, some neighbours affirmed that Oyeleye was seen standing beside his mother, with a sharp cutlass in his hand.
According to a source, who witnessed the incidence, Oyeleye also used the cutlass to inflict injuries on the aged woman’s head and legs, and the victim had immediately been taken to the hospital for medical attention.
“With a sharp cutlass in his hand, he severed both hands of his mother and caused another deep injury to her head and legs. We have taken the mother to the hospital for treatment,” the source said.
PUNCH on Wednesday reported, that the state Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, and also said the suspect had been arrested and an investigation was ongoing.

“The suspect is now in our custody. Our men visited the scene where the cutlass used to carry out the crime was retrieved. Currently, an investigation is ongoing,” the police spokesperson said.
