A young man has allegedly stabbed his girlfriend to death in the Diobu area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, following a heated argument over suspicion of infidelity.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the suspect, identified only as “Doctor” by residents, reportedly accused his girlfriend, Ima, of being involved with another man.

The confrontation escalated into violence, resulting in her death.
The incident occurred on Okereke Street, Mile 2 Diobu, on Sunday night, August 17, 2025. It drew the attention of the caretaker of the compound, who promptly reported the matter to the Azikiwe Police Division.
Eyewitnesses said policemen arrived shortly after, arrested the suspect, and moved the victim’s remains to a morgue. On Monday morning, sympathisers gathered at the police station after learning that the corpse had been temporarily taken there before being transferred to an undisclosed mortuary.
The spokesperson of the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, confirmed the incident, stating that the Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, had ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt, for thorough investigation.

“The suspect has been arrested, and investigations have commenced,” she added.
Meanwhile, the National Coordinator of the Centre for Basic Rights Protection and Accountability Campaign, Prince Wiro, urged the police to ensure justice.
He said, “We are calling on the Police to carry out a thorough and unbiased investigation to deliver justice in this case. I also want to advise young people that a toxic relationship is not worth enduring. If it becomes toxic, walk away, no relationship is worth more than your life.”
