Michael Jackson’s Fans In France Sue Over HBO Documentary
Fans of Michael Jackson in France have sued two alleged child abuse victims of Michael Jackson in a French court over claims they made in the recent HBO documentary titled “Leaving Neverland”.
The hearing, according to reports, will take place at a court in the northern city of Orleans where the groups namely Michael Jackson Community, the MJ Street and On The Line groups, will begin proceedings against the two men, 41-year-old James Safechuck and 36-year-old Wade Robson who they say have defiled the image of the King of Pop.
Emmanuel Ludot, a lawyer acting for the groups, described the allegations as “extremely serious” saying they are like “a genuine lynching” of Jackson who died 10 years ago. Under French law, sullying the image of a dead person is a criminal offence, unlike in Britain or America where libel and defamation laws do not offer this protection.
