- Copilot and Designer added to all Microsoft 365 Personal and Family plans.
- Monthly AI credits for tasks like drafting and data analysis.
- Upgrade to Copilot Pro for higher usage limits.
This move expands access to its AI technologies for a broader range of users.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the announcement in a blog post on Thursday aligns with Microsoft’s goal of offering advanced productivity tools to a wider audience.
Microsoft Copilot, which was initially launched as a premium feature for early adopters in January 2024, will now be available to most Microsoft 365 Personal and Family subscribers worldwide.

“Most of our 84 million consumer subscribers will now have access to Copilot in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and the newly renamed Microsoft 365 Copilot app,” the company said.
AI Credits
Subscribers will receive a monthly allocation of AI credits to use Copilot for tasks such as drafting documents, analyzing data, designing presentations, managing emails, and organizing notes.
For most users, the monthly AI credits will be sufficient, but those needing more can upgrade to the Copilot Pro plan, which removes usage limits.

“For Microsoft 365 Family subscribers, Copilot will be available to the subscription owner and cannot be shared with others,” Microsoft added. “Those who frequently use Copilot can upgrade to Copilot Pro, without worrying about usage limits.”
Recognizing that AI may not always be suitable, especially in academic contexts, Microsoft is adding settings in apps like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to enable or disable Copilot when needed, giving users more control over their AI experience.

Microsoft Designer
In addition to Copilot, Microsoft Designer is now part of the Microsoft 365 subscription plans. This standalone app, which can also be accessed through Word and PowerPoint, allows users to create visually appealing images by either describing their needs or choosing from pre-populated design ideas. The tool also includes advanced AI features for photo editing, such as removing unwanted objects with precision.
Subscribers will receive an enhanced experience, including higher monthly allowances for image creation and editing, compared to free users.
