The Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, has voiced his support for Seyi Tinubu, President Bola Tinubu’s son, as a potential candidate for the governorship of Lagos State.

The endorsement follows the recent backing of Seyi Tinubu by the Coalition of Nigerian Youth Leaders (CONYL) to succeed Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in November 2024.

Olawande Laud Seyi Tinubu as his mentor and leader, asserting that he has the capacity and experience to effectively lead Lagos State.

The minister dismissed concerns about Seyi Tinubu’s age, highlighting his strong background and active involvement in youth development initiatives.

The Minister emphasized Seyi Tinubu’s hands-on approach and dedication to supporting young Nigerians, even before his father assumed the presidency.

“He is not too young to become a governor, that’s the truth, adding that Seyi is qualified to become the next Lagos State Governor.

He is a well trained youngman that has built a lot of young people, massive young people even when his father is not the president,” Olawande said.

The minister, however, claimed Seyi has nothing to do with the endorsement by groups campaigning for him to become a governor.

Olawande said, “Seyi is not the one engineering the campaign to become the next governor of Lagos State.”

Meanwhile, since the campaign for him to succeed Sanwo-Olu started in 2024, the president’s son has neither confirmed nor denied having a political ambition ahead of the 2027 general election.
