MOCPED Alumni Association To Commission Complex
Ekohotblog reports that the Alumni Association of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education is set to commission her Alumni Complex (National Secretariat).
The Commissioning is bid to come up on Thursday, December 19,2019 in commemoration of 25th Anniversary of College. The National President of the Association, Mr. Idris Adebanjo Salami noted that the College during the leadership of Prince Ademola Badejo as the Chairman of Governing Council and Mr. Owolabi Amisu as Sole Administrator gave a foundation level building to the Association with the promise of #1,000,000.
He said, this was given through the efforts of the Immediate past President, Mr. O.A. Ogunlari. He appreciated Professor Oguntoye who gave out #500,000 which the past administration committed to the building.
In his remarks, he said, on assuming office, his administration initially dwell on activities and programmes that would promote the Association and the College. Amongst these programmes are:
1. Educational Enlightenment Crusade for all SS3 students in Education District 111 between November and December, 2012 as approved by the Ministry of Education.
2. MOCPED ALUMNI NATIONAL PRESIDENT BURSARY AWARD initiated and sponsored by the National President from the allowances received as Member of Governing Council and personal savings on January 23, 2013 .
The programme was declared open by His Excellency, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, the Governor of Lagos State and chaired by Olorogun Dr. Soony Folorunsho Kuku, the Chairman, ECO Bank PLC and Joint Medical Director, EKO Hospital PLC.
3. Sensitisation of Parents of Primary and Secondary Schools in Epe Division delivered by Prof Idowu Sobowale, former Commissioner for Education and chaired by Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, Commissioner for Education in April 2014
4. Alumni Re-Union & 1st Symposium chaired by Mr. Jim Ovia, the Chairman, Visafone Commission on December 05,2014
5. Leadership workshop for Students’ Union leaders, School prefects and Class captains of Primary and Secondary Schools in Epe Local Government chaired by Mrs. Foluso Kehinde Ajimoti, the Director, Personnel Management, Education District III.
6. Hosting of National Delegates of Conference of Alumni Association in Colleges of Education in Nigeria with the Printing of NATIONAL PRESIDENT FREE EXERCISE BOOKS.
It was noted that having done all these, the leadership of the Association put in great efforts in ensuing that the building is completed and commissioned. This necessitated the collective efforts of members of the Association.
The Association therefore appreciate the College management, particularly, the Provost, Associate Professor Nosiru Olajide Onibon for his support and release of the #500,000 balance of the promise of the College which assisted the Association greatly.
The Association also expresses her profound gratitude to organizations that came to his aid and give her loans to complete the building.
Mr. Salami also thanked the members of the various Unions in College for finding members of the Alumni Association worthy of been saddled with leadership positions of their Unions as Mr. O.A. Ogunlari, the immediate past President and Mr. S. O. Oke-Eko, the former Treasurer of Alumni were elected the Chairmen of Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education in Nigeria (SSUCOEN) and Non- Academic Staff Union (NASU) respectively while Mrs. Olayemi Grace Abimbola, the National Secretary General was elected Vice Chairman of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU). On behalf of the Association, Mr. Salami wishes to specially welcome Barr. Tokunbo Wahab, the Special Adviser on Education who is to commission the building and other dignitaries to the Commissioning of the Complex.
