Mohbad’s Widow Agrees To DNA Test For Son Amid Family Dispute
Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, has agreed to undergo a DNA test to confirm the paternity of their son, Liam, as part of an ongoing family dispute following the singer’s tragic death. Mohbad, who passed away at the age of 27 under controversial circumstances, left behind his son Liam, which has fueled tension within the family, particularly between Wunmi and the late singer’s father, Joseph Aloba.
Discussions about a DNA test initially caused friction, as Joseph’s legal team pushed for formal confirmation of paternity, citing the need to establish Liam’s lineage.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that attempts by the family’s legal team, led by Emmanuel Oroko, to serve Wunmi with documents concerning the DNA test were initially unsuccessful, delaying the court process. To resolve this impasse, the Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, recommended alternative dispute resolution, hoping to find common ground through private negotiations.
While initial talks failed to yield agreement, recent developments indicate progress.
Monisola Odumosu, a representative of the Aloba family’s legal team, confirmed that Wunmi had consented to conduct the DNA test.
According to a statement by Odumosu, both parties have agreed to the terms of the DNA test, which will be held at a government-recognized or accredited private medical facility within Lagos State or another mutually approved hospital outside Lagos.
To further facilitate this, Mohbad’s father has agreed to bear the entire cost of the DNA test, covering testing fees, sample collection, and any associated legal and administrative charges.
The court has adopted the terms of the settlement as its ruling, requiring that the DNA test be conducted in a mutually agreed-upon facility. For additional assurance, court-appointed officers will supervise the process to ensure accuracy and reliability.
This step forward provides a potential resolution to a long-standing family conflict, allowing all parties to proceed with clarity regarding the late singer’s legacy.
