Five nurses and two mortuary attendants working at a private clinic in Ugbeyiyi, in Sapele, Sapele Local Government Area have tested positive for COVID-19.
It was learned that the hospital was earlier sealed off up by Delta State Ministry of Health monitoring team after a pastor who died of Coronavirus was secretly treated in the hospital.
Sapele council boss, Eugene Inoaghan, disclosed this in a statement
He said while the five nurses are linked to the private hospital, the two morgue attendants were attached to Sapele Central Hospital.
He added the all seven patients have been admitted at the isolation center where they are currently responding to treatment.
He explained: “l up want to appeal to Sapele residents that the illness is real. We should remember to observe all protocols as prescribed by the health authorities.”
On the 4th of July 2020, 603 new confirmed cases and 6 deaths were recorded in Nigeria.
The 603 new cases are reported from 19 states- Lagos(135), Edo(87), FCT(73), Rivers(67), Delta(62), Ogun(47), Kaduna(20), Plateau (19), Osun(17), Ondo(16), Enugu(15), Oyo(15), Borno(13), Niger(6), Nasarawa(4), Kebbi(3), Kano(2), Sokoto(1), Abia(1).
Delta state recorded 62 COVID-19 cases which brings the total record in the state to 1,227 while 795 are currently undergoing treatment.
