EKO HOT BLOG reports that the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State has distanced itself from an endorsement of Senate Minority Leader Abba Moro for a third term.
The endorsement was issued by a faction led by Itodo Boniface, but the APC described it as baseless and unauthorized.
In a statement signed by its acting chairman, Akor Simon, the party declared that Moro lacks the political relevance to secure another term. “Abba Moro has failed as a senator, and we are prepared to change the narrative in 2027,” Akor said. He added that the Boniface-led group lacks credibility to speak on behalf of the APC, describing their actions as a desperate attempt to mislead the public.
The statement urged party leaders, stakeholders, and supporters to remain committed to ensuring APC’s victory across all elective positions in the next general election.
Meanwhile, Senator Moro, speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, emphasized the need to uphold Nigeria’s unwritten North-South power rotation. He argued that the presidency should remain in the South until 2027 to complete an eight-year cycle, warning political parties against fielding a northern candidate.
“In 2023, PDP flouted the North-South understanding by presenting Atiku Abubakar, and it backfired,” Moro said, noting that voters opted for a southern candidate to maintain balance after years of northern leadership.

Moro contended that rotating power preserves national stability. “The reasonable thing to do is allow the South to complete eight years, then the North can take over in 2031,” he advised, warning parties that ignoring this arrangement could cost them victory.
