EKO HOT BLOG reports that delegates expected at the gathering include presidents of CAF’s 54 member associations, representatives of the six zonal unions and top football administrators from across the continent.
The announcement was made on Tuesday during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya, following a meeting between President Tinubu and CAF President Patrice Motsepe.
Also present at the meeting were Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Musa Gusau, Special Adviser to the CAF President, Amaju Pinnick, and CAF Acting General Secretary, Samson Adamu.
Nigeria securing the hosting rights for both events is being viewed as a major boost for the country’s influence in African football governance.
The CAF Ordinary General Assembly remains the organisation’s highest decision-making platform, where major football policies, development initiatives and strategic plans for the continent are discussed and adopted.
Alongside the congress, Nigeria will also host the CAF Awards ceremony, regarded as one of the most prestigious events in African football.
The annual ceremony honours outstanding footballers, coaches, national teams and football officials who have excelled across the continent during the year.

The development is expected to further strengthen Nigeria’s profile as a major stakeholder in African football and provide another opportunity for the country to showcase its capacity to host international sporting events.
