Findings revealed that the fallen truck obstructed part of the roadway, forcing motorists to divert to the opposite lane. This diversion triggered heavy gridlock on the Lagos-bound carriageway, affecting movement towards Mowe, Ibafo and surrounding areas.
As of the time of filing this report, traffic on both sides of the expressway had slowed to a near standstill, leaving many commuters stranded for several hours.
It was gathered that the truck fell late on Friday night, but the situation deteriorated by Saturday morning as traffic volume increased.
Personnel of the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were deployed to the scene to control traffic and work towards restoring free movement.

Officials at the scene, who declined to be named because they were not authorised to speak to the media, attributed the accident to a mechanical fault.
They disclosed that efforts were ongoing to remove the truck and reopen at least one lane to ease the gridlock and reduce the hardship faced by motorists.
