The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has transported sensitive electoral materials ahead of the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election and other scheduled senatorial and federal constituency by-elections across the country.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that the operation, carried out on June 15 and 16 at the request of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), ensured the safe movement of election materials from Abuja to various destinations nationwide.
According to a statement issued by Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, the exercise covered logistics for the Ekiti governorship poll as well as senatorial by-elections in Enugu North (Enugu State), Nasarawa North (Nasarawa State), and Rivers South East (Rivers State).

It also included federal constituency by-elections in Dawakin Kudu/Warawa (Kano State) and Zuru/Shanga (Kebbi State).
The materials were airlifted from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, to designated airports in Enugu, Rivers, and Kano States using the Air Force’s strategic transport resources.
Ejodame noted that the operation was designed to guarantee timely and secure delivery of sensitive election materials in line with INEC’s timetable ahead of the polls.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, praised the personnel involved for their discipline and professionalism, describing the mission as a demonstration of the Air Force’s commitment to supporting democratic governance.

He added that the service would continue to assist civil authorities while maintaining readiness to carry out its core defence responsibilities.
The statement also highlighted the long-standing cooperation between the NAF and INEC in ensuring credible elections through the protection and timely distribution of electoral materials.
Ejodame further stressed that efficient logistics remain essential for smooth electoral processes and strengthening public trust in democratic institutions.

The Air Force said the successful mission reflects its broader role in supporting national development while sustaining security operations across the country.
