The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed the elimination of scores of terrorists and the destruction of their logistics base during a precision airstrike in Alawa Forest, Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
A statement released on Friday by the Director of NAF Public Relations, Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, described the operation as a significant achievement in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under Operation Fansan Yamma (AC OPFY).

The operation, conducted on January 21, 2025, followed credible intelligence and surveillance efforts that confirmed the presence of armed terrorists in the forest.
According to Akinboyewa, these criminals were responsible for multiple acts of violence, including two Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attacks in Shiroro’s Bassa community on December 19, 2024, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives.
In response, the NAF launched a three-day sustained air operation, code-named Konan Daji, aimed at degrading the terrorists’ capabilities and denying them safe haven within the forest.

Fighter jets were deployed to execute air interdiction missions, successfully targeting and striking the terrorists with precision.
“Upon arrival, the jets swiftly engaged the identified targets, neutralizing numerous armed fighters and destroying their logistics base. Multiple secondary explosions confirmed the success of the strikes,” Akinboyewa stated.
The statement emphasized the continued coordination between air and ground forces to maintain operational dominance in the region.

Efforts to sustain peace and prevent further infiltration by armed groups remain ongoing, with authorities pledging unwavering commitment to protecting citizens and maintaining stability.
