NAF Announces Akinboyewa As New Public Relations Director

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has appointed Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa as the new Director of Public Relations and Information (DOPRI) and spokesman for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF).

The appointment was confirmed in a statement issued by Group Captain Kabiru on Tuesday, October 8.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Air Commodore Akinboyewa takes over from Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, who has been reassigned to the Civil-Military Relations Branch as Director of Coordination and Cooperation.

The statement emphasized that this leadership transition is part of the NAF’s strategy to enhance public and community engagement, ensuring effective communication and transparency with the public and key stakeholders.

Air Commodore Akinboyewa is tasked with managing NAF’s media relations and strategic communications to build public trust and maintain transparency.

A graduate of the 43rd Regular Combatant Course of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Akinboyewa holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and an M.A. in Security and Strategic Studies.

Before this role, he was the Commandant of NAF’s Air Traffic Services Training Centre in Kaduna.
