The Senate Chairperson for Women Affairs, Senator Ireti Kingibe, has disclosed that Sen. Natasha Akpoti did not respond to her calls amid allegations against Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Kingibe made this known during an interview on Arise News while reacting to Akpoti’s claims that her privileges were denied and her motions rejected due to her refusal to accept Akpabio’s alleged advances.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to Kingibe, Akpoti never discussed such allegations with other female lawmakers. She added that while no other female senator had experienced harassment, they would support Akpoti if she could prove her claims.
“If we don’t get privileges, it doesn’t mean we don’t get our rights. The three of us have not been harassed, but that is not to say if Natasha can prove that she has been, we will support her,” Kingibe stated.
She, however, revealed that Akpoti had not engaged with fellow female lawmakers throughout the controversy.
“She has never discussed it with us, and we don’t know about it. She did not respond to the rest of the female senators and has not spoken to any of us throughout this whole episode,” she added.
Kingibe also refuted claims that Akpoti had been unfairly treated in the Senate, stating that she had received more privileges than other female senators.
“Natasha has had the most privileges among female senators. I have been moved four times from my seat,” she said.

Kingibe noted that she attempted to contact Akpoti twice before reaching out to her husband, but the senator never returned her calls.
