The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has recorded a major breakthrough with the arrest of Lekan Jimoh, widely known as “Kanmo-Kanmo,” a suspected drug trafficker who had remained out of reach for over a decade.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Jimoh was taken into custody on Friday, January 16, 2026, in Owode, Ogun State, after operatives acting on actionable intelligence located and stormed his hideout.

Officials confirmed that a search conducted at the location uncovered 69 kilograms of skunk, indicating that the suspect was still actively involved in the drug trade despite years on the run.
NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, said the arrest followed years of surveillance and intelligence gathering, noting that Jimoh had been declared wanted since 2014 over his alleged role in a violent confrontation that claimed the lives of three NDLEA officers during an attempted arrest in Ogun State.

Babafemi explained that the agency never abandoned the case, adding that the suspect allegedly used armed loyalists to resist arrest at the time, enabling his escape while officers paid the ultimate price.
The agency recalled that in August 2023, operatives raided a property linked to Jimoh in Ado-Odo area of Ogun State, where nearly two tonnes of skunk were discovered.
Although the suspect evaded capture during that operation, the premises believed to serve as a storage facility for illicit drugs was later seized by the Federal Government through legal proceedings.

Meanwhile, NDLEA operations across several states have led to additional arrests and seizures. In Edo State, operatives uncovered a cannabis camp in Arokpa forest, Uzebba community, arresting a 53-year-old suspect and confiscating hundreds of kilograms of skunk and cannabis seeds.
In the Federal Capital Territory, officers arrested a woman suspected of distributing illicit substances through online platforms, recovering quantities of skunk and cannabis extracts from her residence in the Kaura area. Another suspect was also apprehended in Abuja with cocaine and cannabis-related substances.

Further seizures were recorded in Lagos, Enugu, Delta, Oyo, Kwara and Jigawa states, where operatives intercepted large consignments of cannabis, synthetic drugs and controlled pharmaceutical substances, leading to multiple arrests.
Commending the officers involved, NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (retd.), described Jimoh’s arrest as a long-overdue step toward justice, stressing that criminal acts do not expire with time.
He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to dismantling drug networks nationwide, noting that sustained pressure on traffickers remains central to NDLEA’s enforcement strategy.
