President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a major shake-up at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, removing Chief Pius Akinyelure as board chairman and Mele Kyari as the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO).

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the announcement was made in a statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirming that all board members appointed alongside Akinyelure and Kyari in November 2023 have also been dismissed.

As part of the restructuring, Tinubu appointed Bashir Bayo Ojulari as the new Group CEO and Ahmadu Musa Kida as the non-executive chairman of the reconstituted board.

The newly appointed NNPC Limited board members are:

Ahmadu Musa Kida – Non-Executive Chairman
Bashir Bayo Ojulari – Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO)
Adedapo Segun – Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Bello Rabiu – Non-Executive Director (North West)
Yusuf Usman – Non-Executive Director (North East)
Babs Omotowa – Non-Executive Director (North Central)
Austin Avuru – Non-Executive Director (South-South)
David Ige – Non-Executive Director (South West)
Henry Obih – Non-Executive Director (South East)
Mrs. Lydia Shehu Jafiya – Representative, Federal Ministry of Finance
Aminu Said Ahmed – Representative, Ministry of Petroleum Resources
