EKO HOT BLOG reports that the decision was announced on Thursday in Abuja in a statement issued by the Corps Public Education Officer, Olusegun Ogungbemide.
According to the statement, 31 officers were dismissed for abandoning their duty posts. Five were removed for acts described as scandalous, while seven were sanctioned over misconduct linked to patrol operations.
The Corps said the action reflects its commitment to discipline and accountability within the organisation. It stressed that wearing the FRSC uniform carries significant responsibility and that any breach of its rules would attract strict consequences under its internal disciplinary framework.
Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed said the dismissal of the affected officers demonstrates the agency’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and unethical conduct. He stated that the FRSC operates as a professional paramilitary organisation guided by established rules and standards.
Mohammed described desertion as a grave offence, particularly for an agency tasked with ensuring road safety nationwide. He noted that officers are expected to remain dedicated to their assignments, given the Corps’ mandate to protect the lives of road users daily.
He added that improper conduct and patrol related infractions undermine public confidence and damage the image of the Corps. According to him, such behaviour contradicts the values of discipline, transparency, and professionalism that the agency seeks to uphold.

The FRSC reiterated that it will continue to enforce its regulations strictly to maintain operational integrity and public trust.
