A resident of the area said neighbours quickly mobilised to stop the fire from spreading to other parts of the building before emergency responders arrived.
According to the eyewitness, residents made frantic efforts using water to contain the flames until officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service reached the scene.

He praised the firefighters for their swift response, noting that their intervention prevented a potentially larger disaster.
“Without their timely action, the entire building could have been consumed by the fire, and it might have spread to nearby structures,” he said.
Although the cause of the fire has not been officially determined, the resident suggested that an electrical fault may have triggered the incident.
Authorities later cordoned off the affected area, while no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The incident adds to a series of recent fire outbreaks in Lagos, following similar incidents at the Great Nigeria Insurance building on Lagos Island and the Arena Market in Oshodi within the past eight days.
