Newcastle vs AFC Wimbledon Carabao Cup Tie Postponed Due To Stadium Flooding

Newcastle’s Carabao Cup third-round clash against AFC Wimbledon, scheduled for Tuesday, has been postponed due to severe flooding at Wimbledon’s stadium caused by heavy overnight rainfall.

AFC Wimbledon reported “extensive” flooding from the River Wandle, affecting the stadium and nearby areas. The game, which was set for a 19:45 BST kickoff, will be rescheduled.

A statement on Wimbledon’s official website read: “We regret to inform supporters that due to extensive overnight flooding of the River Wandle and surrounding areas, including at our Cherry Red Records Stadium, Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup third-round fixture against Newcastle United has been postponed.

“More information will follow in due course regarding fixture rearrangement.

“The stadium is closed until further notice.”
