Niger Commissioners Spend N2bn Without Approval
Niger State House of Assembly has invited the Commissioner for Finance and his counterparts in Works and Infrastructure Planning, Justice and Sport Development ministries to appear before it at plenary on Tuesday, March 16, 2021.
The commissioners are to explain how over N2bn was expended outside what was approved in the 2020 budget.
This was sequel to a motion of matter of urgent public importance moved by Madaki Bosso, the member representing the Bosso constituency.

The lawmaker explained that Section 120, subsection (3) the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, as amended, stated, “No amount shall be withdrawn from any public fund of any state, unless the issue of the money has been authorised by a law of the House of Assembly of the state.
“No money shall be withdrawn from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the state, except to meet expenditure that is charged upon the fund this Constitution or where the issue of the money has been authorised by an appropriation law, supplementary appreciation law or law passed in pursuance of Section of 212 the of the Constitution.”
