In a statement shared on X, Air Marshal Abubakar said the engagement offered an opportunity to consolidate ongoing cooperation while opening new areas that would enhance the operational capacity of the NAF in tackling present-day security challenges.
He praised ASELSAN’s global reputation in defence electronics and innovation, stressing that the company’s expertise aligns with his Command Philosophy of building a modern, adaptable, and resilient Air Force capable of safeguarding Nigeria.
According to him, the integration of advanced radar systems, counter-drone solutions, and precision-guided technologies will not only strengthen the NAF’s mission readiness but also contribute significantly to protecting Nigerian communities and reinforcing stability across the West African sub-region.

“This partnership is about giving our Air Force the right tools to protect our people and enhance national security,” Abubakar said.
In his response, Mr. Akyol expressed appreciation for the warm reception and assured the NAF of ASELSAN’s commitment to deepening the partnership.
He noted that Nigeria remains a key strategic ally for Türkiye in Africa and pledged to deliver advanced solutions in avionics modernisation, radar systems, and air defence technologies tailored to Nigeria’s needs.
