EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to address all issues identified during the presidential elections and ensure that bugs and glitches in the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines and other election technology are fixed before the governorship polls on March 11.
In a statement released on Wednesday by the NBA’s National Publicity Secretary, Akorede Habeeb-Lawal, the association also advised INEC to exclude all staff involved in misconduct during the presidential poll from participating in Saturday’s elections.

It also called on the electoral umpire to address major challenges such as the late arrival of officials and ballot materials at polling stations, and limited or non-transmission of results to the INEC Results Viewing Portal (IReV).
Furthermore, the NBA urged the Inspector-General of Police to ensure that police officers are deployed on time before the commencement of voting. The association also advised political parties to inform their supporters and members to refrain from any behaviour that might violate the Election Act.
The NBA had earlier commended INEC for the conduct of the just-concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections, stating that despite the challenges faced, the electoral body performed well in the conduct of the exercise.
As Nigerians prepare to vote in the governorship polls, the NBA’s call for INEC to address irregularities and glitches in election technology is expected to help ensure a free, fair, and credible election.
