EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to sources, the incident began when Paul’s friend, Prosper Odili, was randomly arrested by RRS operatives on Wednesday along Redeemed Road, Okpanam, at about 8:00 AM. Prosper was taken to his house for a search, but after no incriminating evidence was found, he was detained at the police headquarters in Asaba.
Paul, upon learning of his friend’s arrest, visited the RRS office later that evening to inquire about the situation and seek his friend’s release. However, instead of receiving answers, he was detained, handcuffed on both hands and legs, and reportedly subjected to severe torture before being thrown into a police cell.
Sources claim that Paul collapsed inside the cell on Thursday night, suffering from serious wounds caused by the torture. He was rushed to the police clinic, which later referred him to the Specialist Hospital, Asaba, and eventually to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Asaba for better medical attention. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and died at about 4:00 AM on Saturday.
Eyewitnesses allege that RRS operatives who brought him to the hospital fled the premises immediately after his death. As of the time of filing this report, Paul’s body remains at FMC Asaba, while family and friends continue to demand justice.
