EKO HOT BLOG reports that over 264 people, including 70 women and children, have been killed since Israel launched Operation Rising Lion against Iranian targets. Iran retaliated on June 13 with over 100 ballistic missiles targeting key Israeli cities, including Tel Aviv, where the Nigerian embassy is located.
Most Nigerians reside in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. Speaking from shelters, some citizens expressed fear and frustration, alleging abandonment by the Nigerian embassy. “The embassy is shut. We are on our own,” said a Nigerian software engineer in Jerusalem.
Videos shared on Travels Vlog showed Nigerians scrambling into locked bomb shelters, panicking as missiles hit nearby areas. The vlog’s host, Solomon, explained that residents receive alerts ten minutes before strikes, allowing little time for safety.
Several countries, including Germany, China, Greece, and the U.S., have already begun evacuating their nationals. As of Thursday, the Nigerian government had not airlifted any citizens.
However, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said it is awaiting border clearance to begin evacuation. Nearly 1,000 Nigerians in Iran are set to be moved to Armenia, where airlifts will commence from Yerevan. Buses have been arranged, but final clearance from Armenian authorities is pending.

Meanwhile, all Israeli businesses and schools remain shut, worsening the plight of stranded Nigerians who rely on daily income. Citizens have urged the government to act swiftly.
