EKO HOT BLOG reports that the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in a statement yesterday, confirmed it is overseeing the evacuation process. NEMA announced that the evacuation began with the mobilisation of Nigerian citizens and will soon proceed with all necessary logistics to bring them safely back to Nigeria.
According to the agency, the leader of the Nigerian community in Lebanon, during a phone call, acknowledged the vital support provided by the Nigerian Mission in Beirut, particularly in relocating citizens from high-risk zones.
NEMA also confirmed that no Nigerian lives have been lost in the ongoing crisis. The agency advised any Nigerians willing to be evacuated to visit the Nigerian embassy in Beirut for profiling ahead of the airlift.
