NIsafetyE Appoints New National Chairman
Engr. Azuka Bartholomew Emeasoba has emerged as the new National Chairman of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers (NIsafetyE) a division of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).
Azuka was elected and inaugurated as the second National Chairman of NIsafetyE, after the first chairman of the institute, Engr. Abiodun Oyedepo completed his tenure.
In his inaugural speech, Azuka thanked members of the Nigerian Institution of Safety Engineers for the trust reposed on him to lead them and promised to build on the legacy the immediate past administration left behind.
He thanked Oyedepo for his stewardship during his reign and promised to accomplish the task ahead of NIsafetyE.
“My appreciation goes to our pioneer Chairman, Engr. Abiodun Oyedepo, FNSE, FNISafetyE who saw my dream and put in his sweat, determination and hard work to ensure that the dream became reality”.
“We met for the first in 2014 through the linkage of our past president, HRH, Engr. Otis Anyaeji, FNSE, FAEng. From then, we had a common understanding to establish the institution and nurture it to an enviable height. He put in extra effort after my dream and made NISafetyE get the NSE council’s approval to be established”.
“Our growth has been huge. This institution has grown within four years of existence to have five chapters established in Anambra State, Akwa-Ibom State, Lagos State, Rivers State, and Delta State, in that order”.
Engr. Azuka Bartholomew further appreciated the president of NSE, Engr. Babagana Mohammed, other for their unrelenting efforts “I want to thank my brother from another region, my president and the president of NSE, Engr. Babagana Mohammed, FNSE for agreeing on this date of the investiture with me and for coming to chair today’s event”.
“I cannot fail to thank the head of the engineers in Nigeria and the president of COREN, Engr. A.A. Rabiu, FNSE the Cigari of Lafia who has remained a friend too. Also, my appreciation goes to all of you who came here to witness today’s event especially my friends whose goodwill message and adverts helped in writing off most of our bills in this highbrow hotel and city. It shows your great love for me and our young institution. I cannot end this speech without appreciating the investiture Committee chaired by Engr. Dr.Chinedu Ogwus, CEng int (PE) (UK)MEI Chartered petroleum Engineer, CMgr, FCMI, CIPM, FAAPM, ChMC, FCIMC, FNIsafetyE and ably directed by the Deputy national Chairman, Engr. Ekong Akaninyene, FNISafetyE”.
Speaking on advancement of professionalism in the practice of safety engineering, President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Engr. Babagana Mohammed expressed that the new NIsafetyE regime is expected to constructively and professionally assist engineers and Nigerian at large to develop the nation, called on members to support and encourage the Azuka Bartholomew administration.
“I am using this opportunity to solicit your full support and cooperation to enable this administration to deliver on the agenda that we have set for ourselves in furthering advocacies that will effectively promote the interest of Nigeria Engineers and the fortunes of the Engineering profession in Nigeria”.
“Today, our dear brother and colleague, Engr. Azuka Emeasoba, FNSE is embarking on a mission that will define the fate of NISafetyE as a division of NSE in the next two years. As Chairman, Engr. Emeasoba’s success will be measured in the outputs of researches and the advancement of professionalism in the practice of safety Engineering. We will except to see constructive contributions and practical professional advice aimed at assisting our political leadership to surmount the challenges of development in Nigeria”
In his remarks, immediate past chairman, NIsafetyE, Engr. Oyedepo noted that the institute has been able to inaugurate five chapters and as a way of raising awareness, they visited key stakeholders to inform them about the vision of NIsafetyE. Concluded that he has confidence that the new administration led by Engineer. Azuka Bartholomew Emeasoba will be continuing the legacy.
