NLC President Joe Ajaero issued a statement, describing Aremu as a “titan of the class struggle” and an ideological teacher whose life embodied an unwavering commitment to the oppressed.
Ajaero called the circumstances of the death “suspicious” and demanded immediate action from both federal and state governments.
Aremu played an indispensable role as a key architect in forging unity between organized labor and the masses, notably through the Labour Civil Society Coalition (LASCO) and the Joint Action Front (JAF).

The NLC recognized him as a “true workers’ General—unyielding, uncompromising, and steadfast.”
The Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) also grieved his passing. NUPENG leaders stated Aremu was “the very conscience of the struggle, an inimitable force” dedicated to the emancipation of workers globally.
Similarly, the Afrikan Movement for Freedom and Justice (AMFJ) described Aremu as a beacon who “rekindled the flame of revolutionary thought,” lamenting the loss of his ideological clarity.
