- The British Government has spoken on the arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, in the United Kingdom.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that the British High Commission has reacted to the widely-circulated reports that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, was arrested in the United Kingdom.
It would be recalled that the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, on Tuesday, disclosed that the IPOB leader was arrested on Sunday.
The AGF had stated that Nnamdi Kanu was arrested through the collaborative efforts of Nigerian intelligence and security services.
The IPOB leader, who is a dual citizen of both Nigeria and Britain, was rumoured to have been arrested in the UK where he was believed to have been staying since he absconded from the country in 2017.

However, while reacting to the latest development, a spokesperson of the British High Commission, Dean Hurlock, on Tuesday, said Kanu was neither arrested nor extradited from the UK.
“We can confirm that Nnamdi Kanu was not arrested in the UK for extradition purposes,” he said.
Nnamdi Kanu had escaped from Nigeria in spite of the criminal charges of terrorism and treasonable felony charged against him by the Federal Government (FG).
The IPOB leader was before his arrest on Sunday, sighted at various locations outside the country, including Jerusalem and the United Kingdom.
