In a statement released on Saturday, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi Osoba, the MNJTF Information Officer, confirmed that Abacha admitted to participating in numerous operations linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) along the Monguno–Baga axis in Borno.
The statement said, “In a significant development in the ongoing fight against terrorism in the Lake Chad region, a notorious Boko Haram terrorist, Bochu Abacha, has surrendered to troops of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF).

“Bochu, a key player in various terrorist operations, confessed to being a notorious Boko Haram member and involved in several Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorist activities along the Monguno–Baga axis.”
Bochu admitted that he surrendered due to the intensified military operations by the MNJTF and his growing disinterest in terrorism.
According to the statement, Bochu escaped from a Boko Haram camp in Mussaram, taking his weapon with him.
“Recovered items from Bochu include an AK-47 rifle with a magazine loaded with 11 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, a mobile phone, an Airtel SIM card, and ₦32,500. He is currently providing valuable intelligence to authorities,” the statement disclosed.
In a separate operation, Lieutenant Colonel Olaniyi stated that MNJTF troops stationed in Gubio, in collaboration with intelligence operatives, successfully ambushed Boko Haram terrorists transporting a large cache of supplies in three Toyota vehicles under the cover of darkness.
He added, “The troops, acting on intelligence regarding the terrorists’ crossing point, launched an ambush and engaged them in a fierce gunfight.
“One terrorist was killed, while others fled into the nearby forest due to the superior firepower of the troops, abandoning a large supply of logistics.”
Recovered items included three Toyota vehicles loaded with assorted foodstuffs, other sundry items, and ₦2,000.
