Ekohotblog reports that the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Epe Branch, successfully organized an induction program for newly employed teachers in Epe Local Government on Octoberfo 3, 2024.
The event was led by the branch chairman, Comrade Sanni S.O. (Soso), welcomed over 183 new teachers from primary and secondary schools across the six zones of the union.

The program was aimed to help the new teachers understand their roles better and provide them with important information needed for their teaching careers. The event featured several lectures from experienced professionals in the education sector.
Mr. Akinrinmade S.G., Chairman of ANCOPSS Epe Branch, began the event with a talk on Civil Service Rules.
He explained, “It is important for every teacher to know the rules and regulations guiding civil service. This will help you understand your rights and responsibilities as public servants.”
Mr. Kehinde O.O., Director at the Education District Epe, gave a presentation on Teachers’ Records, where he stated the need for teachers to keep accurate and organized records.
“Documentation is a key part of teaching. It helps in tracking student progress and ensures transparency,” he noted.
The Immediate Past Chairman of NUT Epe Branch, Comrade Adegbuyi J. Ogunleye, spoke about the NUT Union and the Endwell Scheme.
He said, “As a member of the union, you have access to several benefits and welfare packages. Be sure to participate actively to enjoy these benefits.”
Mrs. Owojinrin E. Dupe, Operations Officer at BEQA, Epe LGEA, addressed the teachers on Professional Ethics in Teaching.
She stated, “As a teacher, you are a role model. Always uphold the highest standards of ethics and integrity, both in and out of the classroom.”
Mrs. Johnson Ebunoluwa, Head of the Quality Assurance Unit in Epe Zone, shared her thoughts on What Quality Assurance Requires.
She said, “Quality teaching is about delivering good lessons and ensuring that students understand what they are taught. Always aim for the best.”
Coop. Khamis Hamed Olakunle, President of the NUT Epe Cooperative Multipurpose Society, wrapped up the lectures with a session on Financial Prudence. He advised the new teachers to plan their finances wisely, saying, “Good financial management will ensure a smooth and stable career in civil service.”
The program ended with goodwill messages from dignitaries like Mr. Aderonmu, ANCOPSS Secretary, and Elder Adebisi, Coordinator of the Elder’s Forum.
They encouraged the New teachers to stay dedicated to their work and keep learning to improve themselves.
Comrade Sanni S.O. expressed his joy at the turnout and active participation of the teachers.
