EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incident occurred at the 2025 OAU Distinguished Personality Lecture, where Wike was delivering a keynote address. According to Sahara Reporters, the students—identified as Kelechi Ejike and Joshua Temitope Oladepo—were seen holding placards and chanting slogans calling on the FCT Minister to compensate residents affected by demolition exercises carried out under his administration.
“Minister Wike, we demand you compensate the people whose houses you demolished,” the students chanted, briefly disrupting the event.
The protest reportedly drew attention from security operatives, who swiftly arrested the duo. Video footage of the incident has since circulated online.
The lecture was attended by several high-profile dignitaries, including the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun; former Enugu State Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; and former Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom.
As of the time of filing this report, the DSS had not issued an official statement regarding the arrest or the current whereabouts of the students.

Wike, who served as the governor of Rivers State from 2015 to 2023, was appointed FCT Minister in August 2023 by President Bola Tinubu. Since taking office, his administration has faced criticism over its controversial urban renewal projects, which have involved the demolition of properties marked as illegal or structurally unsafe.
