EKO HOT BLOG reports that Obi left the PDP for the Labour Party (LP) in 2022 after failing to clinch the PDP presidential ticket, subsequently becoming the LP’s flag bearer in the 2023 general election.
Following an enlarged meeting of the PDP State Executive Committee (SEC) in Awka, the party issued a communiqué appealing to all aggrieved and former members—particularly Peter Obi—to reunite with the “restructured and rejuvenated” PDP.
The statement, signed by the state party chairman, Chidi Chidebe, warned against political coalitions with what it described as ideologically incompatible platforms, adding that such alliances may not achieve lasting success.
“The committee extends an open invitation to all aggrieved and former members of the PDP in Anambra, particularly our revered former governor, Mr. Peter Obi, to return home and reunite with the now rejuvenated and restructured PDP,” Chidebe stated. “We will gladly welcome our brothers and sisters back to join us in the collective quest for a better Nigeria.”
Chidebe also used the opportunity to drum up support for the PDP’s governorship candidate, Jude Ezenwafor, and his running mate, Francis Okeke, urging Anambra residents to come out en masse to vote for them in the forthcoming election.

He appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a free, fair, and transparent electoral process.
In addition, the party announced the unanimous nomination of Clems Ezike to fill the vacant position of National Ex-Officio representing Anambra State.
