EKO HOT BLOG reports that the LP’s National Secretary, Umar Farouk, on Tuesday, accused Obi of waging a “media blackmail campaign” against National Chairman Julius Abure and other officials. The dispute flared after Obi claimed on Arise TV that the All Progressives Congress (APC) had infiltrated the LP to destabilize it.
The party dismissed Obi’s allegations as baseless, demanding proof. “When asked to produce evidence, Obi had nothing tangible to offer,” Farouk stated. He blamed Obi and suspended Abia Governor Alex Otti for the LP’s internal strife, insisting the APC was not involved.
Farouk noted Obi’s recognition of Abure as chairman during the interview, calling it an implicit endorsement of the leadership. “Abure remains chairman. We urge Obi and aggrieved members to accept this and unite for 2027,” he said.
Meanwhile, Obi, speaking at the Abuja launch of Obi: The Political Change Agent by Ike Abonyi, called for credible leadership in 2027, likening Nigeria to a “sinking Titanic.” He urged voters to reject money-driven politicians and ensure electoral accountability.

“We’ll mobilize fully this time—votes will count,” Obi vowed, condemning Nigeria’s insecurity and refugee crisis. “We’re not officially at war, yet citizens live as IDPs. This reflects a government that doesn’t care.”
