EKO HOT BLOG reports that Obi, who was the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, has remained a key figure in national political conversations ahead of the next election cycle.
In a post on his official 𝕏 handle on Monday, Amadi suggested that some political actors only want Obi to play a supporting role to help them win elections. He pointed out that Obi’s refusal to accept the position of vice presidential candidate, particularly as Atiku Abubakar’s running mate, could lead to public criticism.
Amadi wrote: “The problem with Peter Obi is that some people just want him to help them win elections. If he does not say ‘I will be vice president to Atiku’ then he is selfish. They abuse him. But real supporters of Obi want him to be President. Which side u de?”
Naija News reports that Obi’s supporters are currently divided over whether he should team up with Atiku Abubakar, the former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, for the 2027 election.
Meanwhile, Amadi also commented on the political structure within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), noting that President Bola Tinubu has a history of struggling to maintain long-term working relationships with his deputies.
Speaking during an interview with Arise TV on Saturday, Amadi said it would not be surprising if Tinubu decides to replace Vice President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 polls.
He argued that Shettima’s omission from the endorsements made during the APC Northeast stakeholders’ meeting in Gombe State could signal a shift within the party.

At the event, President Tinubu was endorsed for a second term, but there was no mention of Shettima’s role in the campaign — a development Amadi described as a possible pointer to the harsh realities of political loyalty and survival within the APC.
