Former Governor of Cross River State, Donald Duke, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, for the 2027 general election.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Duke secured the party’s ticket after polling the highest number of votes during the PRP presidential primary held on Tuesday, May 26, in Abuja.
The outcome of the primary election was announced at the party’s national secretariat in the Federal Capital Territory by the National Chairman of the PRP, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed.
Three aspirants contested for the party’s presidential ticket during the exercise.
Announcing the results, Baba-Ahmed disclosed that Duke polled 6,499 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Kingsley Yakubu, who secured 2,699 votes.
Yakubu had reportedly campaigned across the country on youth inclusion, economic reforms and governance restructuring.
Baba-Ahmed also announced that Nnaoke Ufere finished third in the contest after polling 784 votes.
The result confirmed Duke as the party’s flagbearer for the 2027 presidential election.
Declaring the outcome of the exercise, Baba-Ahmed described the primary election as peaceful, transparent and fair to all aspirants.
According to him, the process was conducted in line with the internal democratic procedures of the party and without bias.
The PRP chairman also urged any aggrieved aspirant to forward complaints through the party’s Appeal Committee for proper review.
He explained that the committee remained available to address grievances in accordance with the party’s constitution and guidelines.
Duke’s emergence now positions him to lead the PRP into the 2027 presidential election as political parties continue consultations and preparations ahead of the polls.

The former Cross River governor is expected to begin engagements with party stakeholders and supporters nationwide as the race toward 2027 gathers momentum.
