JUST-IN: Okonjo-Iweala Makes First Appearance In Nigeria Since Appointment As DG, WTO

The new Director General (DG) of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has arrived Nigeria for a one-week visit.
Okonjo-Iweala arrived the country on Saturday afternoon and was received by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry Of Trade and Investment, Nasir Sani-Gwarzo.
Okonjo-Iweala told reporters in Abuja, the nation’s capital that her visit to Nigeria was to show appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for the support accorded her.

She also hinted that discussion on how Nigeria can leverage her position to benefit from trans-national trade formed part of her visit to the country.
Since her assumption of office as the new DG, WTO earlier this month, this is the first time the former minister would be visiting the country of her birth and origin, Nigeria.
