Ondo Govt Dismisses Domestic Violence Allegations Against Gov Aiyedatiwa

The Ondo State Government has dismissed allegations that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa was involved in domestic violence with his spouse, labeling the accusations as blackmail.

In response to a viral video purportedly showing the governor in a domestic altercation, the government issued a statement through the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Strategic Communication, Allen Sowore.

The statement accused the opposition of orchestrating the video’s circulation to tarnish the governor’s image ahead of the November 16, 2024, Ondo State Governorship Election.

Sowore claimed that opposition parties, particularly the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are spreading falsehoods and engaging in smear campaigns to damage Governor Aiyedatiwa’s reputation, as he gains political momentum.

The statement read, “As preparations for the November 16, 2024, Ondo State Governorship Election heat up, it’s clear that Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa is gaining significant ground. In desperation, opposition parties are resorting to blackmail, fake news, and falsehoods to sully his image.”

Sowore explained that the video in question shows a middle-aged man in a domestic scuffle with a woman, but it is not the governor. He highlighted several key differences between the man in the video and Governor Aiyedatiwa, such as facial features, beard style, vocal tone, and other physical distinctions.

“Governor Aiyedatiwa no longer wears the type of beard seen in the video, and he changed his appearance over a year ago. The man in the video has a gap between his teeth, which the governor does not. Additionally, the man speaks loudly, and his voice is noticeably different from that of the governor,” Sowore stated.

He also noted that the governor has never worked in the UK, a detail mentioned in the video, and that their facial structures differ. The government urged the public to carefully examine these discrepancies and not fall for the opposition’s ploys.

Sowore concluded by calling on those responsible for circulating the misleading video to stop engaging in blackmail and focus on more constructive matters. He advised the PDP to resolve their internal issues instead of spreading false accusations against the governor.
