The crash involved a white Mazda bus with the registration number GGE 858 XY, which was reportedly speeding when a tyre burst, causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle to overturn. At least ten individuals sustained serious injuries in the incident.
Florence Okpe, spokesperson for the Ogun State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), provided details in a statement released on Saturday.

According to Okpe, the injured victims were rushed to Patmag Hospital in Ogere for treatment, while the body of the deceased was taken to the FOS Morgue in Ipara Remo.
The statement read: “A total of 17 people were involved in the accident, including eight male adults, seven female adults, one female child, and one male child. Unfortunately, one female adult lost her life, while ten others were severely injured (two male adults, six female adults, one male child, and one female child).”
“The injured were taken to Patmag Hospital, Ogere, for treatment, and the deceased’s body was deposited at FOS Morgue, Ipara. The crash was attributed to excessive speed, a tyre burst, and loss of control.”
In response, the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun State, Akinwumi Fasakin, urged drivers to pay closer attention to the condition of their tyres, particularly checking for expiration dates, tread depth, and avoiding substandard tyres. Fasakin added that a tyre blowout at a controlled speed might have been better managed.
