EKO HOT BLOG reports that the incident, which occurred on Saturday, was confirmed by the Gombe State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Buhari Abdullahi, in a statement.
According to the statement, the conflict began when youths from Lano village barricaded the Lano-Deba Road and allegedly attacked herdsmen traveling from Kuri village, killing five cows. The youths accused the herdsmen of obstructing the transport of farm produce and seizing phones from local farmers.

“We received information that youths from Lano village had blocked the Lano-Deba Road and attacked Fulani herdsmen, killing five of their cows,” Abdullahi stated.
Police officers, led by the Divisional Police Officer of the area, were deployed to restore order. However, the situation escalated as some youths reportedly pursued the herdsmen into the bush, sparking a violent altercation.
Three individuals sustained injuries after being shot with bows and arrows during the clash. They were initially treated at the General Hospital in Deba before being referred to the Federal Teaching Hospital in Gombe. Tragically, one of the victims succumbed to stomach injuries, while the other two remain in critical condition.
The police spokesperson assured residents that calm had been restored, with security personnel and vigilantes patrolling the area to safeguard lives and property.
“The situation is under control, and we urge all parties to maintain peace and avoid further violence,” Abdullahi said.
