He was later tracked and arrested in Kwara State.
Initially, Konnoudia pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of theft, but later changed his plea during an accelerated hearing.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Kayode, told the court that the offence contravened Section 383 and was punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol 11, Laws of Osun State, 2002.
Magistrate M. A. Olatunji ruled that the prosecution had established its case beyond reasonable doubt. Although Konnoudia begged for leniency, claiming hunger pushed him into the crime, the court convicted him and sentenced him to six months imprisonment with an option of a N50,000 fine.
