The President told the governor that his victory should not be seen as the defeat or conquest of political opponents but as the outcome of a democratic election.
“Do not stigmatise any of your opponents. The people of Osun State have delivered their judgment in your favour, indicating their desire for you to lead. Therefore, you are returning to govern,” Tinubu said.
The President also urged Adeleke to use his renewed mandate to promote unity, peace and stability across the state.
According to Tinubu, anyone who claims to support democracy should be able to celebrate the outcome of a free and fair election, regardless of political affiliation.
“Any individual, any democrat, anyone within the political sphere who cannot rejoice in the triumph of a free and fair election does not deserve the joy and laughter that democracy offers,” he said.
Tinubu cautioned Adeleke against making any of his political opponents victims of his campaign, stressing that the governor had a responsibility to unite the people of Osun.

“Do not make a single person a victim of your campaign. Avoid this, not just for your own sake, but for the sake of Osun and future generations. It is crucial for you to foster a network of unity,” the President said.
He added, “You did not conquer anyone. You won an election. This is the essence of democracy. I am pleased that we had this discussion.”
Tinubu further advised Adeleke to demonstrate his appreciation to the people through his actions and governance rather than words and celebrations.
He said the governor should see his victory as an opportunity to make history by promoting peace and stability in Osun State.
“You are in a very unique position to make history. Foster unity, peace, and stability,” Tinubu told Adeleke.
The President also commended Adeleke’s campaign, describing his approach as reflective of a progressive instinct.
“What you are currently doing reflects a progressive instinct. You have effectively mobilised with your efforts,” Tinubu added.
The meeting came days after Adeleke secured victory in the Osun governorship election and was subsequently congratulated by the President.
