In January 2024, the Osun State Government released six White Papers following an investigation into various chieftaincy matters. One of the White Papers had nullified the selection process that led to the appointment of Oba Famodun.
Oba Famodun, a former chairman of the Osun chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was appointed and installed as the Owa of Igbajo by former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in 2022, toward the end of his tenure.
After assuming office on November 27, 2022, Governor Adeleke revoked Famodun’s appointment and set up a committee to review the matter. The committee’s findings led to the issuance of an Executive Order that annulled Famodun’s installation and called for a fresh selection process.

However, Oba Famodun challenged the revocation in court, arguing that his appointment followed due process and should not be annulled.
In her ruling, Justice A.O. Ayoola declared that the Executive Order and White Paper had no legal basis to invalidate a properly conducted chieftaincy process.
