The Osun State Police Command has summoned Senator Francis Fadahunsi, representing Osun East Senatorial District, over a viral video in which he allegedly threatened to “kill Accord” members ahead of the state’s governorship election.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the police invitation followed outrage on social media over comments allegedly made by the senator while addressing supporters of the All Progressives Congress during a campaign in Ilesa, Osun State.
In the viral statement, Fadahunsi was accused of instructing APC supporters to “kill” members of the rival Accord Party.
In a letter dated August 11, 2026, and signed by the Commissioner of Police, Elections in Osun State, Samuel Etaifo Erale, the senator was directed to report to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Osogbo.
Fadahunsi was expected to appear before the police on Wednesday, August 12, at 11:00 am.
According to TheCable, the invitation was issued to enable the police to clarify the circumstances surrounding the statements allegedly made by the senator during the APC campaign in Ilesa on Tuesday.
The police said the statements were considered threatening, inciting and intimidating and had already circulated across various electronic and social media platforms.
The letter stated, “The invitation is premised on information in possession of the Nigeria Police alleging that during your address at the aforementioned programme, you made statements considered to be threatening, inciting and intimidating in nature, and the statement has already been in circulation on various electronic and social media platforms.”
The development comes as political activities intensify ahead of the Osun State governorship election, with political parties and their supporters stepping up campaigns across the state.
The police invitation places renewed attention on political rhetoric during election campaigns and the need to prevent statements that could heighten tensions among supporters of rival political parties.
Fadahunsi’s appearance before the police is expected to provide an opportunity for the senator to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged comments.
